Niigata is known in Japan for its “Three White” treasures, i.e. snow, rice and sake, and a naturally blessed environment for pure water source. Shinobu means “Forbearance” in Japanese as it is how the distiller’s spirit should be when making quality whisky.

Shinobu Whisky is hand crafted by the distiller, Mr. Usami. He carefully selects whisky from around the world and first matures this in ex-Sherry and ex-Bourbon casks. It is then finishing in precious Japanese Mizunara oak and further maturing of the spirit takes place in Japan. The result is a unique fusion of flavours and dynamic explosion in palate yet so smooth and easy to drink. All natural with no colouring.

Shinobu Lightly Peated Pure Malt whisky NAS and 10YO are the first peated whiskies to be released by Shinobu distillery. The NAS lightly peated shows a robust and profound body structure, with smoky and toasty oak flavours.

Bottled at 43% abv and comes with a gift box displaying artistic detail and two etched whisky glasses.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: After dinner mints with creamy peat smoke, lemon citrus and barrel char.

Palate: Floral notes of freshly cut grass, smouldering heather and robust peat smoke with some salty maritime notes.

Finish: Long with creamy peat, toasted barley, charred oak.
