Now anyone would start with sharing tasting notes and telling you to purchase the most expensive whisky in the bunch, usually the one that just won an award but that’s not the case here. We’re starting right at the very start of the process and will eventually get you to the end, not that we have an end in mind yet, so it’s up to you when the journey stops.
The categories we have are placed before you are designed to educate, entertain and inform. We of course have Facebook, You Tube, Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram accounts as well as a blog page on our website. A forum for you to voice your opinion and ask some questions. So start where you would like and I hope you enjoy the website and our selection of products. (drawing by mc verhoog). Use our hashtags #nippysweetiewhiskies and #dramgasm to share your conversations.
This website is in no way trying to change the world or for that fact your palate I would just like to make the whisky journey as comfortable and as memorable as possible. There are too many critics around making us feel that we should drink whisky in a particular way. When the words ‘add water to that’ are heard at a whisky show or tasting class the audience take on a British parliament vibe and start to shake their heads and groan.
Add water, don’t add water. Have you got ice in that! Can I have cola or lemonade with it? What did Jim Murray rate it? Has it won any awards? Does it really matter?
I love whisky………
Whisky is a an extremely complex drink, it’s a bold spirit which is also volatile. Not only does it evolve in the barrel but it also evolves in the glass. Whisky challenges the senses of the nose and the palate. It makes you curious and sometimes excited but it certainly makes you want to learn more about it. From a clear distilled spirit to an eye catching colourful glow of beauty, every whisky, distiller or distillery has a great story to tell and we aim to share some of those with you.
The variation between whiskies is incredible, the colour, the aromas, the taste, the density, the presentation. From the peaty smokey whiskies of Islay to the light dry whiskies of the Lowlands, which one has a place on your palate? It’s amazing how many people we talk to who tell us they don’t like whisky. Perhaps being introduced to a whisky when they were younger or just had one at a wedding or a family function they did not enjoy. The whisky world is huge and unless you’ve tried over 50 whiskies and still say you don’t like them then you need to keep exploring.
“the world is full of wonderful things and one of them is whisky”
There is only one reason why we created Nippy Sweetie Whiskies and that is to help you, the customer find the right whisky, your whisky and perhaps start you on an amazing journey. My passion is to make sure this journey takes you on a magical mystery tour and on your way you should enjoy every moment from the bad, different, amazing and unforgettable moments, Nippy Sweetie Whiskies will be there.
Now opinions will be had and we hope that others can take note and understand that we are all different in taste, comfort and the most important affordability. So kick back and enjoy the journey, criticize where you may and clap where it’s deserved, hopefully we’ll pick up a few friends on the way. No question is silly. We follow Plato’s theory of learning, “make your lessons in the form of play”. The journey begins………………………………………Let’s have some fun!
